Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Tokyo National Museum for its extensive and fascinating collections, offering a deep dive into Japanese art and history. The affordability and accessibility for English speakers are also frequently highlighted as major positives. Some find the sheer size of the complex a bit overwhelming, and occasional long lines can occur during special exhibit openings.

"Beautiful museum, a must visit during you stay in Tokyo. There many national treasures on display (many of which photos are not allowed) from the different eras of Japan, starting from the neolithic. Many unique archaeological pieces on display, as well as ancient art collections and artifacts. The museum is located in a very nice park and the tix are cheap. Navigating was a bit confusing because there are 2 building connected to each other. There are additional themed displays as well"

"Wow. Just wow. A beautiful collection of different Japanese artifacts, ranging from samurai armor to kimonos to archaeological discoveries to paintings. I wish I had more time here as there was so much I wanted to see. They have comfortable couches in rest areas. Such an impressive gallery of items. I liked how the Japanese art section incorporated both ancient and modern art. I also enjoyed the gorgeous park and flea market nearby."

Autumn Cao

"Amazing. This museum is fully complete, ranging from ancient Japanese swords, samurai armours, ancient kimonos to tea houses. This place got everything. I really enjoyed the garden, it had old tea houses in it and one cafe serving traditional matcha and tea the ceremonial way. If you are interested in Japanese culture and history this is for you. Really beautiful paintings and folding walls to. The best thing is that they explained the meaning of everything. This museum is good for everyone, maybe not small children because you have to be quiet and avoid touching the glass. Overall a strong 5/5"
