What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Matsuya Asakusa Ekimise is praised for its excellent B2 basement food hall, offering high-quality, affordable sashimi and a wide variety of other culinary delights in a less touristy atmosphere. Visitors also appreciate the convenience of its location and the potential for unique seasonal experiences like the rooftop beer garden. However, some payment methods, particularly contactless cards, may not always be accepted, so having alternatives is recommended.
"I was visiting the temporary exhibition for Bocchi the Rock on the third floor (which was amazing), but when it came time to pay for my merchandise it turned out that they couldn’t take my contactless card. However the staff was extremely patient and kind to me, and ended up holding the merchandise for me for a few hours while I returned home to get another card. When I came back to get my merchandise, the cashier who was helping me earlier remembered me and helped me smoothly enter the gated exhibition to purchase my goods. The staff turned an entire ordeal likely caused by corporate oversight and my own negligence into an experience that went just about as well as it could have, given the circumstances."

"I got sashimi platter in b2 basement. It was delicious and affordable with sushi chefs actively working in the next room. Better quality than some of the sashimi I’ve gotten at restaurants. Recommend the golden stickers or Hokkaido labeled one. Ikura was delicious and fresh. Another plus is this place isn’t touristy."
