"November 2025. The pass's summit is 644m high, and it's often foggy. It's a national highway connecting Tokachi and Furano, and before the opening of the Doto Expressway, the teahouse (souvenir shop) at the pass was also a popular tourist spot. Despite the increasing demand from inbound tourists, the traffic flow seems to be changing."

Under the Ritsuryo system of the Meiji period, the area that is now Ishikari District, as well as the combined areas of Sorachi and Kamikawa Districts, became Ishikari Province, and so it was named Karikachi Pass as it was the border between the former Ishikari Province and the former Tokachi Province.
