📍Sakura Shrine, Setagaya, Tokyo 📷: March 9, 2025 This shrine is famous for their Kawazu Sakura or also known as Early Blooming Cherry Blossoms and a pink bows tied on their branches. Because of the popular Sakura trees I lined up for an hour and a half, but it’s all worth it! I was also lucky to buy some お守り or goodluck charms plus because its a salura themed amulet! 🌸🌸🌸 #japan #travel #japant...

Today we went to Sakura Shrine in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan. This is a quick 5 minute walk from Sakura-Shinmachi train station. I did miss the majority of the full blooms for Sakura season but there were a couple trees that waited for us. We waited an hour and a half to get the limited edition goshuin and omamori. They’re so stunning. Im so glad we waited. #sakurainjapan #sakura #sakurashrine #cherry...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Sakura Jingu Shrine for its stunning Kawazu cherry blossoms and unique pink ribbon wishes, calling it a beautiful early spring destination. However, be prepared for significant crowds and long wait times, especially for limited edition charms and prayer seals, which can detract from the serene experience.

"The hydrangea goshuin was worth the trip. I was a bit surprised at how small the shrine and surrounding area is, and given their June exclusive goshuin and omamori, I thought they’d have more hydrangeas in the area (there were just a few bushes). They were sold out of the June hydrangea lace omamori when we went on 6/28. The pink ribbons were very pretty though. I’d love to come back for sakura season."

"As march already began Sakura blooming has also begun. Right now all the blooming ones are mostly kawatsu types 河津桜。I came to Sakura shrine close to shibuya for this year’s first Sakura hanami 花見。

These pictures were taken as of march 5th 2025. There were only two kawatsu sakura trees blooming fully. Very strikingly beautiful. It was early in the morning but raining. I was the only one here. I could take pictures without being blocked by anyone or blocking others. There were also morning worshippers on and off.

For subway exit it’s north exit. Shrine would be on the same side."

"Pictures were taken on 10 Mar.
The shrine is 2 mins from station. And very famous for it’s beautiful Goshuin. I saw very long lines of people queuing for this special Goshuin collection. If you don’t want to wait for too long, make sure you come visit early.
The sakura here is early blooming, usually from end of Feb till mid March. Early morning is perfect to watch these beautiful flowers when not much for visitors."
