What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Sapporo Underground Pedestrian Space for its incredible convenience, especially during harsh weather, and its extensive network connecting key areas. It's a vibrant hub for shopping and dining, offering a comfortable escape from the elements. However, some caution is advised due to occasional crowding and the risk of pickpocketing during performances.
"As a first time foreign tourist in Sapporo, I did a walk through this famous underground complex today that goes by the name of "Sapporo Ekimaedori Underground Walkway." This "Walkway" was a never-ending below ground passageway with many side passageways, which not linked the subway stations of downtown Sapporo, but also the major commercial buildings above ground or road level at their respective basement levels. And besides that, there were many retail and food and beverage shops along these passageways and even the occasional sections of flea market. So, there's a lot to see and do and eat here, and it offers a comfortable ambience from the open air situation above - especially, if it's during warm summers or cold winters."

"This underground walkway is very useful during winter.
When we first arrived at sapporo, we needed to walk on icy road from sapporo Station to our hotel at tanukikoji 狸小路. Google Map showed it takes 20 minutes' walk, but eventually, we took 40 minutes as it was very difficult to navigate on ice and snow road.
After a few days at sapporo, we finally discovered this underground walkway. It only took us 20 minutes from sapporo Station to tanukikoji vice versa (the entrance of this underground walkway is at the junction between tanukikoji 3 and 4). On top of that, it actually link sapporo Station to susukono and passby tanukikoji, TV tower, and Clock Tower. In short, tanukikoji is horizontal, and this underground walkway is vertical from sapporo Station.
This underground walkway connects to pole town underground shopping street between clock tower and susukino."
