Reviews Summary
Futatsugame Beach is celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its iconic twin rock formations and crystal-clear waters. Visitors enjoy the unique colorful pebble beach and the serene atmosphere, especially outside peak season. However, the significant number of steps to access the beach and the rocky terrain can be challenging for some.
"One of the most beautiful beaches in Japan, it's a joy to walk across to the other island and especially bask in the views while you are in the middle with the sea on both sides. The beach is also filled with colourful rocks/pebbles which is a unique feature in itself. Doesn't seem to be over crowded when we were there and it was superb on a cloudy day as I read the comments that the heat can be harsh in summer.
Keep in mind that your vehicle has to be parked at the top of the hill at the official parking space and to walk down the hundreds of steps before reaching the beach. Vehicles cannot pass through on the small road close to the beach as it is fenced off."

"Great view, amazing place to visit but be aware of long stairs to go down and up. If you are not confident in your knee, it’s not really a place to visit. “Beach” might be good for snorkeling but it’s very dirty. Probably a spot where all trash flows in with tides. I’ve seen better places to swim on this island, but worth a visit just for quick walk."

"The beach at Futatsugame on Sado Island is one of my favorite beaches in Niigata. The water is clear, clean and refreshing. The view is beautiful at sunrise and sunset and you feel completely comfortable, relaxed and connected to the Sea of Japan. I was fortunate there weren't any big crowds, noise or disruptions and I really realized how tranquil, mezmorizing and beautiful Sado Island is. I really appreciated the kindness of the locals their and really appreciate and respect this area. I look forward to going there again sometime soon, maybe in the fall or early summer again."

They stand as a testament to the power of erosion and time, shaping the coastline into something truly extraordinary. Whether viewed from the beach, the water, or the surrounding cliffs, the Futatsugame rocks offer a memorable and iconic photographic subject that encapsulates the spirit of this remote island destination.
Navigating the Steps and Beach Terrain
Once you reach the beach, you'll find it's not a typical sandy expanse. Instead, it's covered in a multitude of colorful rocks and pebbles.
