Reviews Summary

Shin Umeda Shokudogai is a historic and bustling food alley offering a wide array of authentic Osaka cuisine at reasonable prices. Visitors praise the variety of delicious food, the lively atmosphere, and the local feel, though some note the alley's age and narrowness can be a drawback, especially with luggage.

"A passage way which houses plenty of food stalls in Umeda area, can be considered food street. Went into a miso ramen store by the locals, surprisingly it's good and tasty. The portion is really generous and the gyoza tasted fantastic as well. Personally I'll prefer the gyoza. Pricing is normal and the staff are friendly. The shop is a bit small so the seating is limited. Queueing is still a norm here if you want to give it a try."

Ing Kien Wong

"It's a crowded street full of all kinds of small restaurants.

The location is not far from the train station and the prices ranged from cheap to expensive so you can always find the one you like.

However, it was a bit shocking for me to know some Japanese smoke outside of the street and the fact that the street looks old and hasn't been amended for quite a while.

Also, due to the width of the street and personal experience, I don't recommend to go with your luggage."

Ching Wu (Lv. 10 Local Guide)

"This place is a little tricky to find, but it's worth the effort as the okonomiyaki is truly a hidden gem in this hole in the wall (literally) restaurant! I recommend their modern yaki as it has a bit of everything, and if you're lucky to and get to sit at the bar, you can watch the masters at work!"
