What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners are drawn to the unique concept of enjoying kotatsu dining with spectacular city views from Abeno Harukas. While the novelty and the panoramic vistas are highly praised, some guests found the food to be average and the service inconsistent. The cold weather can also be a factor, despite the kotatsu.
"Pros:
- A bit pricey at first glance, but it includes a pass to the top floors of Abeno Harukas.
- For the shabu shabu course, it's 2 hrs of all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink.
- You get a free bottle of ponzu to take home.
- Considering the location and the fact that you have a front-row aerial view of Osaka to enjoy as you eat, it's very reasonably priced!
- The view is stellar, especially during sunset.
- I enjoyed the relaxing music playing over the speakers.
- It's a fun kotatsu experience!
Cons:
- It can be chilly even with the kotatsu and provided coat since it's outside.
- Since it's part of the observation floors, other visitors walk next to your table and gawk at you like you're part of the attraction, which takes away from the relaxing mood.
- Since you take off your shoes, it'd be nice to have slippers provided to walk to the restroom.
- It'd be nice for beer to be served in a glass jug instead of a plastic cup."

"I went in late December. I looked it up online and made a reservation, but I didn't expect to be outside, and it was freezing cold. Even though there was a kotatsu, my cheeks were cold...
I ordered the 9,000 yen course, which included oden, appetizers, pasta, and dessert, but the outside air was so cold that everything except the oden on the induction stove was cold, and the dishes were cold too, so it wasn't an enjoyable environment for a meal.
Next time, I'd like to go when the temperature is a little warmer. The night view was beautiful, but I felt the price was a bit high considering the setting and the quality of the food."

"The oden in the kotatsu was amazing!
The broth was also very tasty!
However, the 60-minute limit
didn't mean 60 minutes of all-you-can-eat oden, but rather 60 minutes of seating time.
We weren't informed of this at the beginning, so we were asked to leave while there was still food left, which was very disappointing.
It seems like the kotatsu temperature can't be adjusted,
so it would be tough on really cold days lol
The view was beautiful, and I was really happy that it included a ticket to the observation deck!"

The Unique Kotatsu Experience
This combination allows guests to enjoy comforting hot pot dishes while gazing out at the expansive Osaka cityscape. The contrast between the intimate warmth of the kotatsu and the vastness of the view is what makes it a memorable experience. Many visitors find it a unique way to enjoy a meal, especially during cooler months.
However, it's important to note that while the kotatsu provides warmth, the dining area itself is partially exposed to the elements. Reviewers mention that it can still be quite chilly, especially in winter, and suggest dressing warmly.
Culinary Delights with a View
Courses often include a variety of appetizers, side dishes, and sometimes pasta or udon as a final course. The quality of the food is generally considered good, with the shabu-shabu and oden receiving particular praise for their flavor and ingredients. Some packages also include all-you-can-drink options, featuring Japanese sake and other beverages.
While the food is a significant part of the experience, some reviews suggest it's average and the main draw is the novelty and the view. It's worth noting that some guests have reported issues with the pacing of courses and the temperature of certain dishes, particularly on colder nights.
Navigating the Abeno Harukas 300 Observation Deck
Access to the observation deck is typically included with your Kotatsu reservation, allowing you to explore the views before or after your meal. The deck offers different perspectives, including indoor viewing areas and the unique outdoor 'Harukas 300' sky garden.
When dining at Kotatsu, be aware that other visitors to the observation deck may walk by your table. Some reviewers found this intrusive, as it can feel like you're part of the attraction. Planning your visit during less crowded times can enhance the overall experience.
