A famous spot on the Tokaido road, depicted in ukiyo-e prints, it's also home to a beautiful wooden statue of Tora Gozen, Soga's lover, donated by Edo's Yoshiwara.
The rocky surface of Shigitatsuzawa offers a glimpse of its original appearance, and the thatched roofs from the national highway offer an incredible sense of time travel.

Dr. Matsumoto Jun (Ryojun), a major benefactor of Oiso's development, is buried here.

He also created opportunities for seawater salt bath resorts, milk, Oiso Station, and Ito Hirobumi himself to settle there.
He was reburied at Myodaiji Temple, but his original round tombstone still remains..."
