It is a strange shrine without a pillar, which is very rare in the Suwa region. Mononobe Moriya Shrine enshrines Mononobe Moriya, a powerful lord from the Kofun period. #守屋神社 諏訪地方にしてはとても珍しい、御柱のない不思議な神社です。物部守屋神社は、古墳時代の豪族である物部守屋を祀っています。

"Visited 11/23/2022. One of 5 Ichinomiya shrines in Shimane (2 on the islands). Lovely shrine, well kept and staffed. Shuin is by donation! And they actually wrote it in the goshuincho (vs pre-written on paper. The shuin is nice and has a crane stamp. They gave little origami too. Not much to explore but had free parking(which sometimes closes if there’s an event so be careful. From the upper parking it was wheelchair accessible. Bathroom was nice and clean and had western stalls and soap. Check out my Shimane Ichinomiya video on YouTube! @AdreaminJapan"

"Mononobe Shrine is a little far from the center of Izumo city, but I think it's worth the effort to visit. It is a historic shrine with ties to the Mononobe clan, a powerful clan in ancient times, and just standing within the shrine grounds you can feel its long history and tradition. The large shrine building is imposing and surrounded by a quiet environment, allowing you to worship at your own pace with a sense of calm. It has a different atmosphere from the standard tourist spots, and is especially recommended for those interested in mythology and history. Visiting it together with Izumo Taisha Shrine will give you an even deeper understanding of the depth of Izumo's faith."
