Some note the limited parking and the need to plan accommodation in nearby towns.

"This has to be one of the most amazing lighthouse hikes in Hokkaido. Situated in a fairly remote place but well maintained with a boardwalk that traverses through wet lands, you will walk through forest-like views, which opens up to plains where you will see a lighthouse standing alone. Beautiful! You will end up on the lighthouse and discover it's actually perched up on a cliff with pretty strong waves down below.

Takes about 30mins to walk through and the start point doesn't have parking spaces but it is okay to park along the side so long you don't block any of the pathways."

"We were the only ones there that day, it was a little misty and foggy but that added a dash of ghibli magic to the forest when we walked on the boardwalk into the open field. Spotted a herd of deer, we walked to the lighthouse that sat right by the cliff and watched the waves crashing onto the rocks below us."

Karen Tan

"Not much tourists even in Weekends, only local tourists go, good eatery nearby. A quiet place and less crowded as compared any other Japanese Cape. Make sure to book a night stay before going or catch train to go back Nemuro or Khushiro for night stay."
