What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kakinohana Spring Hija for its serene and peaceful atmosphere, often finding it uncrowded. The short, scenic nature walk is a highlight, especially for families. However, the small size of the spring area and limited parking can be drawbacks, and the rocky trail requires careful footing. Mosquitoes can also be a nuisance.
"Nice and serene spot, with no tourists when we were there. But it is a 150m downhill walk over a slightly overgrown rocky path. Moskitos were also feasting on me. But I would still go again."
Klaus Fabian
"I went by myself and there were a number of people with children. It is really a small area so there isn't much space to lounge about. The small pool was filled with children. If you are in the area, you can stop to check it out, but it's not a location to mark as a destination, in my opinion.
Look out for the very small parking area for about 3 cars without double parking, or make use of the side roads as others did. Google sent us in the wrong direction so be careful of turning too early. A kind local directed me.
It is quite a steep, but solid ground, and takes about 5 minutes or so to go down to the spring. If there's already a crowd with children, there's not much to do."

Navigating the Trail and Access
Navigation can be tricky, as Google Maps has been known to send visitors in the wrong direction. It's advisable to pay close attention to your route or be prepared to ask locals for assistance, who are often happy to point the way. The parking situation is also a key consideration; with space for only about three cars, arriving early or being flexible with parking on side roads is recommended.
Family-Friendly Fun at the Spring
However, it's important to note that the spring area is quite small. If a crowd, particularly with many children, is already present, there might not be much space to spread out or lounge. This makes it more of a place to stop and check out if you're in the vicinity rather than a primary destination for an extended stay, especially if you're seeking solitude.
