What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shinojima Island is praised for its beautiful beaches, stunning sunset views, and incredibly fresh seafood. Visitors appreciate the friendly locals and the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, making it a perfect escape. Some find the island's hilly terrain challenging for extensive walking, especially in heat, and note that certain hiking paths may be closed.
"It's a small, quiet island close to the Aichi prefecture. Most parts of the island are consisted with a Rocky texture. This island is famous for strong stones. The stones required for the construction of Nagoya castle were obtained from this island."

"Went fishing with friends here. It was a great experience!!"
Mika Gaphelo Chiusiwa
"I love visiting shrines and temples, and when I was wondering if I was really on the right path, a local person came up to me and explained the situation. I also had the pleasure of meeting people who would say things like, "There's this place too," or "Have you been there?" It really made me feel like I was part of the island. ☺️ To get to the temples and shrines, I often walked down narrow streets and alleys, which made me feel like I was on an adventure. Rather than being tourist-oriented, the shrines and temples here all seemed deeply important to the islanders' lives. I felt warm and fuzzy after visiting such places and being able to talk to the islanders. I wish I could have seen the Naka-Sengu Shrine ceremony, which takes place once every 10 years. 🥺 Due to circumstances, I wasn't able to see it this time, but next time I'd like to come during a festival or other event!
Thank you very much."
