One run to win the national championship. 1 out. Bases loaded. Bottom of the 10th. In the 1996 high school national championship Matsuyama faced Kumamoto. Directly before this play, Matsuyama’s manger replaced number 10 in right field with number 9 Masatsugu Yano. Yano would deliver maybe the best throw ever seen at koshien the very next play to throw out the runner at home and keep the game tied....

Jodo-ji Temple offers a tranquil experience with its serene rock garden and aged architecture, making it a peaceful stop on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. While the temple itself is appreciated for its historical significance and unique displays like the 88 stone images, some visitors have noted a disappointing experience with the goshuin service and the donation office.

"It is situated on a small plot up against a hill. Small with a temple office with a nice rock garden and walkway."

"Temple No. 49 of the 88 Shikoku Temple Pilgrimage
Jodo-ji Temple, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture

Denomination: Shingon
Mountain Name: Seirinzan
Temple Name: Sanzo-in
Principal Deity: Shaka Nyorai
Founded: 749-757 (Tenpyo-Shoho era)
Founder: Keimei
Temple: Iyo Thirteen Buddhas Pilgrimage, Temple No. 28
Shikoku Thirteen Buddhas Pilgrimage, Temple No. 8
Address: 1198 Takako-cho, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture

This temple was founded by the monk Keimei under the command of Empress Koken. The principal image is a statue of Shaka Nyorai carved by Gyoki. The statue embodies the words "Namu Amida Butsu" emerging from the mouth of the famous "Kūya" monk! It's not just Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple in Kyoto. I found out later that there's one in Shiga too (lol). I wish I could have prayed there.

What a beautiful temple gate ♫ The next temple after Sairinji is Sairinzan, which is connected to the Sairin area."

"I was planning to go to Hio Hachiman Shrine, but I saw a large gate nearby so I decided to stop by. There are plenty of things to see, including the Nio statues and a stone monument bearing a haiku poem by Masaoka Shiki. Another temple in the area that I was recommended for the pilgrimage is Sairinji Temple."
