Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Garden Museum Hiei for its unique blend of Impressionist art and beautiful seasonal gardens, offering stunning views of Lake Biwa. The journey up Mt. Hiei is also highlighted as a scenic adventure. Some find the entry fee a bit high for the garden's size, and recommend arriving early to fully enjoy the experience.
"What a wonderfully unexpected find. I originally anticipated seeking out the mountain temple, but got drawn into the Garden Museum Hiei after getting off the Eizen Cable Car. I couldn't be happier that I did.
Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The placement of classic art pieces throughout the garden, some even mirroring the scenery were exceptional.
The cafe on site not only had the most delicious coffee jelly with corn flakes (something I never knew I always needed!), but it came with a breathtaking view of Lake Biwa. The observation tower on site gave 360° views of the area (Lake Biwa, Kyoto, etc).
The Museum Garden Store had a wonderful selection of garden themed items. There were also several spots for IG worthy photos. Additionally, they have activies to do should you come earlier I'm the day.
The only downside I have, is I didn't come earlier! It is a wonderful trip, worth every moment. I would come early enough to do this trip and also the temples."

"Beautiful garden paired with great view and prints of Monet. The latter really enhances the experience of the incredible vista around Mt. Hiei, and I highly recommend first time visitors just pay the entry fee because it is such a great experience overall."
