"Sanada Senki
Nagashima Ganshoji Temple
I visited Nagashima Ganshoji Temple on November 17th.
Nagashima Ganshoji Temple was a major base of Honganji forces in the Tokai region, and for Nobunaga, it was like a sword held to his throat.
In July 1574 (Tensho 2), Nobunaga invaded Nagashima for the third time, losing many of his followers, including Nobuhiro, Hidenari, Nobunari, Nobutsugu, and Nobunao.
Nobunaga's retaliation was extremely brutal, setting fire to the city from all sides and slaughtering approximately 20,000 men and women."
HIRO SANADA
"A temple associated with the Nagashima Ikko Ikki uprising.
It is quiet and deserted, with no visitors.
Historically, 20,000 people, men and women of all ages, were killed by Oda Nobunaga's forces here, and there is a memorial tower."
