What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Kinpo is praised for its breathtaking panoramic views, especially during sunrise, making the hike or drive worthwhile. Visitors appreciate the accessible trails and the peaceful atmosphere. Some caution is advised regarding the narrow, winding roads and potential winter conditions.
"It was a relatively easy hike to do. Very convenient and accessible. My friends and I did a sunrise hike and the view was amazing. Waking up early was totally worth it.
It took us almost an hour to complete the hike which included some stops. While heading down took us about 25 minutes because we took the main road."

"I went here with my parents last time around autumn season. Once you parked you car/motorcycle, you have to walk the trail by foot up to the top of the mountain for 5 - 10 minutes. There is a mini temple at the top and a vending machine whilst you are sitting at a bench. Climbing is a bit exhausting, but you will not be disappointed with the breathtaking view at the top."

"If you don't have a lot of time, and you wanna get a bird's eye view of Kumamoto and it's surroundings, then Kimpo/Kinpo san is the place to go. Many hiking trails, for hikers and roads for cyclists are all challenging but doable. Not recommended for non geared bike. Some sections are quite steep; however, you can drive up almost to the summit. I'd advise caution on rainy days, or in the winter, ice and snow has been known to accumulate near the summit. If you're not comfortable driving narrow curvy roads, probably not for you"
