"Interesting exhibit for such a small, isolated museum. The building is typical Ando"

"We visited as a family of three, including our child.
As expected, the museum is beautiful both inside and out, and we enjoyed the exhibits as well.
There is a hot spring facility next door, a large parking lot, and a park across the street, although it looked a little old.
There were a moderate number of visitors, so we were able to enjoy the exhibits at our leisure without worrying too much about our surroundings.
The restaurant is in the same building as the museum, but has a separate entrance.
The food was delicious. I thought the restaurant entrance could be tidier, considering it is a Tadao Ando design.
We came from the Yamanashi side, and there were a few points along the way where we struggled to decide where to turn, so we got a little lost before arriving.
The staff, both in the museum and at the restaurant, were all friendly and welcoming.
The footbath next to the parking lot was nice and warm, and when I soaked my hands in it, they felt very smooth.
I would like to try the hot springs again when I come again."

"The highlight of the town is the town-run art museum designed by architect Tadao Ando. First, enjoy the museum itself. It is a reinforced concrete structure with exposed concrete and a motif of circles and straight lines. There are various planned exhibitions, but it seems that no large-scale exhibitions will be held. This summer, there is a planned exhibition called "Seisho Ruten In Flux" by a Japanese artist in residence in the United States. The parking lot is large and shared with the neighboring Hachimine-no-Yu. It is a wonderful location with a view of the Yatsugatake Mountains. Please enjoy the fusion of nature and the building."

The museum's design features clean lines, exposed concrete surfaces, and a harmonious integration with the surrounding landscape. Ando's signature use of natural light, often filtered through carefully placed openings, creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere within the exhibition spaces. The building itself is as much an artwork as the pieces it houses, embodying a philosophy of simplicity and connection to the environment. Reddit

Visitors often remark on how the building's design enhances the viewing experience, providing a tranquil backdrop for the art. The interplay of geometric shapes, particularly the recurring motifs of circles and straight lines, adds a subtle yet powerful aesthetic. This architectural approach ensures that the museum is not just a place to see art, but a place to experience art and architecture in dialogue. Reddit

Photography is permitted, allowing visitors to capture the essence of Ando's design. The exterior, with its robust concrete form, stands in elegant contrast to the natural beauty of the Komagane highlands.
