Kosen, a yakiniku restaurant that has been in business for 40 years, is located in the Nakamise Shopping Street in front of Keisei Tateishi Station. After her grandmother retired, his grandson An Ryongsu opened the restaurant in her place. Is 6pm too late for Asakusa /Sensō-ji visit?

I prefer the temple at night, it looks great all lit up, and there aren’t millions of people there.

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Tateishi Nakamise Shopping Street for its authentic Showa-era charm and affordable 'Senbero' nightlife. While some note signs of impending redevelopment, the street's nostalgic atmosphere, delicious local food like oden and sushi, and lively evening pubs make it a highly recommended hidden gem for experiencing genuine Tokyo. "Full of beautiful surprises"

Dahman Coombes

"I wanted to see it before it was lost to redevelopment, so I visited around lunchtime on a weekday. It seemed like many stores had moved out, so it was quiet, and only a few famous stores had lines. I left feeling sad, thinking that it must have been a more lively street before."

Dice

"A nostalgic shopping street that still retains the atmosphere of the Showa era. It's a place you'll want to visit at least once before it's redeveloped. Along the 120-meter stretch, there are rows of cheap and delicious small shops, including delicatessens, sashimi shops, and butchers. In the evening, the lights come on at the pubs and the doors open for business.

Marutada Kamabokoten, a long-established oden specialty store that was founded 40 years ago, opened an eat-in restaurant called Oden no Marutada next door, and it's my favorite.

They sell homemade satsumaage (fried fish cakes) that have been boiled into oden. You can enjoy hot oden and alcohol while sitting around the counter. The clear soup is not too thick and has a comforting taste with a strong dashi flavor. The umami of the satsumaage that is boiled together with the radish and eggs is also infused with the flavor of the fish cakes."
