"Very impressive local museum where you get the opportunity to witness three of the actual floats used for the festival. If you are not here during the festival time, this is your second best opportunity. My favourite stop in Sawara. The staff were super helpful and kind."

"If you’re visiting Sawara you should definately check this museum out. It has the history of the floats, and also houses some of the floats which are used in the city’s annual festivals.

In the float exhibition room they even have photo spot pinpoints so you can take the best photos of the floats.

There is a theatre room where you can listen to the history of the area. If you arrive in a group of foreigners and are willing to wait they will put on an English translated video (it’s dubbed with a robotic voice, so the pronounciation may be a little strange of some words, but the translation is correct)

The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable! Would definitely visit again."

"Sawara Dashi Kaikan is the museum of Sawara city carnival which is held twice a year. The Sawara carnival was attended by all Sawara residents using the traditions and customs of each region. This celebration has been going on since the Edo period most than 300 years ago. In this museum, you can see various cultures typical of the Sawara people, such as the Sawara parade and Ayame flowers (Irish flowers)."
