"The tempe not so big, but beautiful. If you want to see Fuji from above, make sure you are using shose because the road to go up is smal. The staff may be can't speaking English, but they're so friendly. The tickets so cheap too! Only 100¥"

"This is one ot the most memorable temple we visited in Kamakura, full of beuatiful and detailed ornaments and well preserved buildings. Thanks to the exceptionally kind lady at the temple we got to know the history of Nichiren and the temple itself - it was amazing."

Bogna z

"The entry fee is 100 yen for this quite big area in a small valley. The first level is very well maintained, and the moss areas are a feast for your eyes. As you climb up the stairs, maintenance is not made much, and at the top of the hill, you will find a bronze bell that's you can't ring. There is a sacred cave that is not allowed to anyone except the main monk of the shrine. Go there mainly for the walk in the forest, as the buildings, while quite big, aren't very interesting."

The Historical Significance of Ankokuron-ji

Ankokuron-ji Temple holds a special place in Japanese history as it stands on the site where Nichiren, a pivotal Buddhist monk, wrote his influential treatise, Rissho Ankoku Ron (On the Establishment of the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land). This work was a powerful call for social and political reform, advocating for the adoption of Buddhist principles to ensure national peace and prosperity. The temple itself was established later, commemorating this significant historical event and Nichiren's profound impact on Japanese thought and religion. Visiting Ankokuron-ji offers a chance to connect with this rich historical legacy.

The temple grounds are designed to evoke a sense of peace and contemplation, reflecting the spiritual depth of Nichiren's teachings. The natural setting, with its lush trees and moss-covered stones, is intentionally preserved to create an environment conducive to meditation and reflection. This connection to nature is not merely aesthetic; it symbolizes the harmony between the spiritual world and the natural order that Nichiren emphasized. The quietude of the temple allows visitors to step back from the bustle of modern life and immerse themselves in a space steeped in history and spiritual significance.

Many visitors find the temple's atmosphere deeply calming, noting how the well-maintained yet natural surroundings contribute to a sense of spiritual renewal.
