What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the museum's beautiful architecture and the educational value of its exhibits, offering a glimpse into the history of Ise's merchants. However, a significant drawback for international travelers is the inconsistent availability of English explanations, leading to a less immersive experience for those without Japanese language proficiency.
"Very beautiful museum on the history and making of Ise Shrine. Educational for knowledge oriented travelers. No photography inside the museum though. The building and the garden itself will be suffice to make an impression on your journey."
Jason Hung
"I was very dissappointed. The museum itself is beautiful, very interesting and has a lot of informative films and digital, interactive screens.
However apart from a very short pamphlet there is no foreign language explanation or support. And using phones is prohibited, so one can not even translate it. As the museum is so modern, I feel like this is an active decision. As a foreigner with deep interest in Japan but no N1 language proficiency, one is basically forced to just walk through quickly, missing out on most information and feeling excluded."
Dominik Hošek
"The museum is beautiful and seems very well documented but it is a shame that a museum located in such a touristic venue as Ise Jingu doesn’t have any English translated content even not a leaflet…"
