What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Koremasa Bridge is praised for its impressive modern design and excellent pedestrian accessibility, offering wide, safe walkways with great views of the Tama River. Visitors appreciate the bridge's aesthetic appeal, particularly during sunset and when illuminated at night, making it a pleasant spot for a stroll or cycle.
"In the past, there was a ferry at Koremasa, where the Fuchu Kaido road crossed the Tama River. A wooden bridge was completed in 1941, and a reinforced concrete bridge in 1957, but due to increased traffic and the bridge's aging, it was replaced in the first phase of construction starting in 1997. In the second phase of construction from 2007 to 2011, two identical cable-stayed bridges were built side by side, expanding the roadway to four lanes in total, as it stands today. The sidewalks have also been widened, making it easier to travel between Koremasa and Minamitama."

The Engineering Marvel of Koremasa Bridge
The bridge's construction history reflects the evolving needs of the region. Initially, a ferry service operated at this crossing of the Tama River. This was followed by a wooden bridge and then a reinforced concrete bridge. However, increasing traffic demands and the aging of the older structure necessitated the comprehensive replacement and expansion project that resulted in the contemporary Koremasa Bridge.
Visitors can appreciate the scale and design of the bridge, noting the wide pedestrian sidewalks that were a key part of the upgrade. These walkways offer a safe and pleasant experience for those exploring the bridge on foot or by bicycle, providing excellent vantage points for river scenery.
