Reviews Summary

Visitors are consistently impressed by the museum's unique architectural design and the awe-inspiring scale of Shiba Ryotaro's personal library. The contemplative atmosphere and the opportunity to glimpse into the author's intellectual world are highly praised. However, some find the museum's location to be a bit out of the way, requiring extra travel time from central Osaka.

"This is a masterpiece of Ando’s work, but they don’t allow any photography inside the building. I don’t know why but that’s the rule. The book shelf wall is astonishing. The Frank Lloyd Wright style glass window is a nice surprise. Every Ando’s book sold here in the gift shop comes with Ando’s sketch and signature."

World Explorer

"The museum looks nice, in particular the thousands of books in the tall book shelves.

But there's little to no information in English, so I couldn't learn anything in the museum. Moreover, the informative pamphlet is also not great. Subtitling the movie on display would already suffice to make it a good experience I think. Or at least allow visitors to take photos of the library, which is very photogenic :)"

Celso Coutinho

"Both novelist & architect are legends! Amazing architecture. No pictures inside the museum so please respect the rules. Respect the tranquility and calm of the tribute space. Tadao Ando did his magic of blending nature with concrete into a phenomenonal force of WA calmness. This place is worth a visit if you are in Osaka. They have a mini cafe and a souvenir store too. If you are a foreigner, you can take a brochure of your language at the gate where you buy your entrance ticket."
