"There were a few routes which lead to the peak. Some of them were official trails which are simple. Some of them were more difficult and look like they were not official trails. You may also choose to get on a cable car. You would better to do some research and choose one which fit your situation."

"I hiked up Kongo-san on early june 2024. There is a "Mt. Kongo Hiking Ticket" you can buy online that costs around 1800 yens and that includes round trip train+bus from Namba to Mount Kongo hike starting point. There are several hiking routes, I took one going through the chihaya castle ruins (which consists now in a shrine in the forest). From "mount Kongo trail head" bus stop, walk few meters up the road and enter the hike by going left where there are big staircases deeping into the moutain. As a 21 years old boy doing the hike alone, it took me about 1 hour from bus stop to the top of the moutain. By the way, the last station (where the "kongo-san summit" sign is) is not the actual summit, you can go a bit higher (5 min walk) where is a shrine and forest with huge trees, which i definitely recommand to do. Also, if you ask gently at the foodshop located in the last station, you may collect a free souvenir stamp (see the picture). You can go down by the same route or by another down along the ropeway (which is not operating anymore since years)."
