Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Kanayama Megaliths for its unique prehistoric significance and the opportunity to learn about ancient astronomical knowledge. The remote, natural setting adds to its charm, and the presence of knowledgeable volunteers greatly enhances the experience. Some find the journey challenging due to its isolation.

"This ancient astronomical clock is a rare example of prehistoric material in Japan, hidden in the mountains, forests, far away from anything. It is certainly worth your time, especially if you manage to meet the kind volunteering man, present almost every day between sunrise and sunset, there to observe and hopefully discover, but mostly just to enlighten visitors about the magic that is this place. Without explanations you might not learn that these enormous boulders are believed to have been moved, that they are cut and marked to indicate the seasons, equinoxes, the stars, and more. We spent an hour here, talking and listening. Great stuff :)"
