Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum for its incredibly affordable admission and convenient location above the Nakasu Kawabata subway station. The collection of contemporary Asian art is considered interesting and thought-provoking, with special exhibitions often being a highlight. While some expected more from the permanent collection, the interactive elements and the charming cafe add to the overall positive experience.

"I am a little confused about some of the other reviews referencing 1,000 or 2,000 yen for entrance... Maybe something has changed. The entrance is very cheap. It is only 200 yen. I happily would have paid more than that! And I felt that the exhibition was wonderful. I really enjoyed my time here. It has art from all over Asia, there's not really art from Japan, with the focus modern art, a lot of which reflects political events of the past 20 years. I thought it was really interesting, especially the uterus man piece which I loved. Also, the cafe is completely adorable, and the giant food pillows you can play in are just as fun for adults as they are for kids! All the art is signed in both English and Japanese."

The focus is on contemporary Asian art, and it has samples from Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. they also have regular shows. And there is a coffee shop in the space as well."

"I always stop by this museum whenever I go to Fukuoka. The permanent exhibition features a good selection of Asian artists. I was in luck as the special exhibition at this time featured Tezuka Osamu’s Blackjack.
Conveniently located in Riverrain Mall above Nakasu Kawabata subway station."
