What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Happiring is a convenient, multi-level mall near Fukui Station, praised for its selection of local souvenirs and casual eateries offering regional specialties. While some find the shopping variety limited, its role as a community hub with frequent events and its strategic use with the Fukui Fun Pass make it a worthwhile stop.
"We came due to purchasing the fukui fun pass, which allowed us to get the soba coupon and the 1000 yen happiring coupon.
Experience: A decent albeit limited variety of restaurants serving local specialties, including oroshi soba.
There were stores selling omiyage too, with a popup Pokémon store at the time of visit.
Hits: We liked the food from amida soba and gaburi chicken.
Miss: slightly small variety of shopping.
Tips: do note that you can only utilize the fun pass 3 "times", with the 300yenx4 soba coupon and 1000 yen coupon redemption considered 1 "time" each. If you're planning to visit attractions using the fun pass, we recommend maximising the value by redeeming the 1 day echizen rail ticket (1700 yen worth), followed by the aquarium (1500 yen worth), before considering the mall coupons, and the soba coupons only if you're ok with eating soba 3-4 times."

There are burger king, ramen, fried pork, soba noddle, Japanese pub.
The upper floors are for the community associations. There is a space exhibition on the top floor with a dome theatre.
There is a big plaza on the ground floor that carry out some love performances and event markets."

"Small, small small mall with an ice skating rink out front and very limited food options. The souvenir stores were nice to visit but not really worth your time to visit. Fukui Station is right next to this mall which had much more to offer."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
Navigating the Fukui Fun Pass
Travelers recommend prioritizing higher-value redemptions first. This includes the 1-day Echizen Rail ticket (valued at 1700 yen) and the aquarium admission (1500 yen). Only after maximizing these should you consider the mall coupons and soba coupons. This strategic approach ensures you get the most bang for your buck.
For dining, the pass often includes coupons for local specialties like oroshi soba. While convenient, be mindful that redeeming multiple soba coupons counts towards your usage limit. If you're not a big soba fan, it might be better to use those redemptions for other experiences.
Happiring as a Local Hub
Beyond the commercial aspects, the upper floors are dedicated to community associations, suggesting a space for local gatherings and activities. The presence of a dome theatre on the top floor further enhances its role as a community venue.
Even when no specific events are scheduled, the plaza and the terrace just outside, in front of the station, are great places to sit, relax, or meet friends. This highlights Happiring's function as a social gathering spot for residents and visitors alike.
Shopping for Fukui's Best
While the variety of shopping options might be considered limited by some, the focus on local items is a significant draw. Keep an eye out for popup stores, as a Pokémon store was present during one visitor's experience, offering unique merchandise.
For those seeking a broader range of shopping and dining, it's worth noting that Fukui Station itself offers more extensive options. Happiring is best utilized for its curated selection of local goods and convenient access.
