"On days when the steam locomotive is in operation, it's well worth seeing and very interesting.
However, I don't recommend going on a weekday in the middle of summer, as there is no roof, the turntable is never used, and it's far from the station.
On weekdays there are fewer people and the air is fresh, but there's nothing in front of the station so you'll just end up killing time, so be careful."

"This park was opened as part of the 120th anniversary project of the company's founding, utilizing the yard that was previously used to store railway cars, which was demolished due to their deterioration.
The turntable itself was there before, but the development seems to have centered around it.
C58363 is immediately detached from the Paleo Express upon arriving at Mitakeguchi, and travels forward onto the siding where it undergoes tasks such as coal removal and water supply.
It then reverses onto this turntable, where it is turned around by workers before reversing back onto the siding.
From there, it goes around the turning track to the Kumagaya side of the passenger cars, then reverses to be coupled.
You can observe this entire process."

"The weather was beautiful and it was a perfect day.
Surrounded by mountains, the scenery was amazing.
The temporary toilets were currently dirty, but clean tourist restrooms next to the station
are almost complete.
Parking is managed by the station and costs 530 yen per day.

You can get a great view of the steam locomotive from really close up. 😊
