Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the MOA Museum of Art for its stunning panoramic views of Atami and the ocean, as well as its breathtaking architecture. The serene Japanese garden and the clarity of the exhibition glass are also frequently highlighted as positive aspects. While the art collection itself might not be vast, the overall experience of the museum's design and its scenic location makes it a highly recommended destination.

"The view from the museum is beautiful🥰
Thankfully the coin lockers here are free of charge, meaning I can enjoy the space without my bags.
The exhibition I went to was super interesting, scrolls about a fantastical tragic love story from ancient times. The glass was so clear that I sometimes forget about it, and when you take pictures there's no reflection. The outside Japanese garden is also fun to walk around.
Would spend about 2-3 hours here, if you don't sit down and eat."

"This is one of those musuems where every part of the musuem architecture is thoughtfully designed and works of art in their own right. I found myself stopping at random points in hallways and doorways, admiring the tasteful thought put into it. The museum sits on top of a steep hill above Atami city, and can be accessed by driving or public bus. The viewing gallery near the entrance provides a paranmoc view of Atami, the sea and the museum compound. There are permanent galleries housing collections of mainly Japanese paintings, pottery and crafts."

Jason

"This museum is a must. Not many art pieces but the architecture is breathtaking and the atmosphere and views inside and out are amazing. Staff is very nice and we loved the little coffe shop at the end of our visit."
