Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Snow Crystal Museum visually stunning with its elegant ice and crystal displays, creating a romantic, castle-like ambiance. However, some feel the ¥700 entrance fee is high for the limited exhibits, especially if they don't understand Japanese, as much of the information is in that language.

"The ticket for one adult is 700 yens. In my opinion, it's not worth it. There isn't too much to see. Yes, it's pretty and has some cool ice inside, but that's it, there isn't too much else to see. A shop, an event room, a video library, which is everything in Japanese.
It has a restaurant inside, but you can access to it from outside the museum. The money doesn't worth the visit."

Mariano Matayoshi

"Exquisite place with elegant snow design everywhere and stunning halls! There are only some designated rooms so to be honest it's all more like a feast to eyes than an interesting experience. And despite the map it's still hard to make the way since all rooms are connected and there are two floors, making it harder to find directions. The restaurant only offers like 5 lunch sets but it's well-prepared and worthy, about ¥1200-1500 for a lunch set with a main dish, salad/bread, soup and dessert, or ¥500-800 for dessert only. Even the dishes are inspired by the signature snow design!"

Quinn'z Land

"Best if you could understand Japanese.
Entrance fee:
¥700 for adults (¥650 if you log on to their website and find the discount coupon)
¥500 for University Students (student card is required)
¥550? A little cheaper for high school students or below.
There’s a bridal service too. And if you’re a cosplayer, it would be suitable for photoshoot."

The 'Museum' Experience: More Than Meets the Eye

The Snow Crystal Museum, while bearing the name 'museum,' offers a unique experience that leans more towards an aesthetic exhibition hall and event space. Visitors often note that it's a 'feast to the eyes' rather than a place for deep scientific learning. The exhibits focus on the visual beauty of snow crystals, ice formations, and sparkling crystal displays, creating a romantic and almost fairytale-like atmosphere. Reddit+1 Think of it as a beautifully decorated castle, especially with the crystal lamps and 'snow'-like decor, reminiscent of a winter wonderland. Reddit

While there are informational plaques detailing the science of snowflakes, their formation, and crystallization, these are primarily in Japanese, with some English and Chinese translations available. Reddit This means that for visitors who don't understand Japanese, the focus will largely remain on the visual appeal. The museum also houses a hall that can accommodate over 140 people, often used for weddings or music performances, further highlighting its role as an event venue. Reddit

Given this, a visit is typically short, around 30 to 45 minutes, making it a perfect stop for those seeking a visually engaging and brief experience. It's particularly popular for photoshoots, including cosplay, with rental services available for those who wish to enhance their experience. Reddit

While the prices for lunch sets are around ¥1200-¥1500 and desserts range from ¥500-¥800, many find the quality and presentation to be well worth the cost, especially given the thematic connection. Reddit
