"If you love bridges, this is a great place to visit!"

Mitchell Rogers

"This 883m-long bridge is located in Ushibuka, Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
To those unfamiliar with it, you'd think it's a bridge connecting Amakusa Shimoshima and Shimosugashima, but it actually spans Ushibuka Bay.
Apparently it was designed by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano, and its exquisitely beautiful curves stand out beautifully against the blue sky. It's also been selected as one of the New 100 Views of Kumamoto. (Although, with "New" and 100 views, most views are sure to be included...)
At the eastern end is Ushibuka Kaisaikan Roadside Station, where you can see the bridge from directly below."

犬神SAY

"This is quite an unusual bridge.
Its beautiful curves are never boring to look at.
On the second floor of Ushibuka Roadside Station, located below this bridge, is a restaurant called "Aosa," which serves great fish.
Their sesame yellowtail bowl was absolutely delicious.
Yellowtail sashimi is marinated in a sweet sauce similar to sesame miso, topped with egg yolk, and eaten by crumbling it. The sauce is a little on the sweet side, so adding a little bit of wasabi to the yellowtail makes it even better.
It's absolutely delicious.

Next to it is the ferry terminal that runs between Ushibuka and Kuranomoto (Kagoshima)."
