"Voghera station is the most dangerous, September 3, 2025, passengers be careful, the station is full of thieves, bags are stolen from the train, the police do not react"
Saba Nino
"Good number of trains to Milan (Pavia on the way), although not evenly distributed (roughly every hour, including all categories of trains) including in the evening. Good link also to Alessandria (connections to Turin and other regional destinations), less frequent, and Genoa (but no regional trains for hours). To Piacenza (and Bologna, direct or easy connections).
Main hub of regional bus lines to many nearby destinations, including to Varzi (formerly railway line) close to hourly on weekdays.
Not very lively station, but very quiet.
Large and nice park in front of the station and surprisingly nice (and good local food) city center at walking distance."

"Voghera's old town train station, from which you can reach Pavia, Milan and other cities. It is preferable to buy train tickets on the Internet, because I bought train tickets from the ticket office at the station in order to go to Milan, and when I boarded the train, the employee tells me that these tickets are not for this train, although I am very sure that the ticket is correct and also has the train logo on it and forced me to pay a fine of 120 euros. You can imagine the extent of exploitation and fraud, unfortunately, by station and train employees only because I am a tourist and I speak English, not Italian. In addition, the train was delayed for long times and there were not enough seats to wait. There is also no elevator, it is closed and disabled, you have to use the dark stairs even if you have a lot of bags or a disabled person in a wheelchair. Very frustrating unfortunately."

Navigating Safety Concerns
While the station itself might not be inherently dangerous, the surrounding environment and the trains can be targets for opportunistic criminals. It's advisable to avoid displaying expensive items and to be aware of individuals who seem overly interested in passengers' luggage. If you experience or witness any suspicious activity, report it immediately, though be prepared for potentially slow responses.
Understanding Ticketing and Fines
To mitigate these risks, the consensus among travelers is to buy train tickets online whenever possible. This bypasses potential issues with ticket validity at the station and ensures you have the correct documentation for your journey. Always double-check the train number, destination, and validity period on your ticket before boarding to avoid any misunderstandings or costly penalties.
It's also worth noting that the station's ticket office has specific opening hours (8 AM - 7 PM), and while there are vending machines, the online option offers the most security and convenience.
Station Amenities and Accessibility
However, a significant drawback for some travelers is the lack of accessibility. The station does not have elevators, meaning passengers with heavy luggage, strollers, or mobility challenges will need to navigate stairs. This can be a considerable inconvenience, especially during busy periods or when dealing with multiple bags.
Despite these limitations, the station's proximity to a pleasant city center with good local food options makes it a functional transit point.
