What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vigoleno is widely praised for its stunning medieval beauty and breathtaking panoramic views, offering a true step back in time. Visitors love the well-preserved castle and village atmosphere. However, some find the experience can be marred by a significant mosquito problem during warmer months, impacting enjoyment.
"Vigoleno rises in the heart of the Piacenza countryside, where the deep blue sky mingles with lush forests and endless vineyards, dotted here and there with rustic stone houses. The winding road leads you gently uphill until, at the last turn, you must leave your car behind and continue on foot. Step by step, the castle slowly reveals itself, like a vision drawn out of time.
From the outside, its medieval walls already inspire awe, but once you pass within, the sight becomes truly enchanting. Through narrow openings in the fortress walls, the mountains unfold before your eyes like a painted canvas. Standing there, you feel the calm of the village below and the generosity of nature all around. As you descend towards the village, you see how people live surrounded by such beauty—an experience that urges you to pause, reflect, and perhaps reimagine your own life."

"We wanted to go see this place because it was part of the Borghi più belli d'Italia, but we didn't stay for very long. It was mid day and hot but the worst part was the mosquitos. I felt like I was getting eaten left and right. My children left with so many bites. Not sure why there is such a problem here when we didn't experience this in other borghi. Anyhow, it wasn't a pleasant visit. I did give it 3 star though because without the mosquitos it was a beautiful place. Maybe you'll have better luck."
