What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Carnival Museum to be an interesting and worthwhile stop, particularly for its insights into the art of float construction and the history of the Viareggio Carnival. While some note it's not the largest museum, the displays, especially in Shed 16, are highly praised for their detail and scale. A few minor issues with early closing times for lockers were mentioned.
"I visited here on a Sunday - check the website for opening times as only open until 1pm when I visited.
It cost €5 per person. Self guided tour but all information is in Italian and English. Lots of interesting things to look at and it’s well worth visiting hangar 16 at end of the tour to see the old floats / characters and get an idea of the scale. I was lucky enough to see another old float that was being moved - probably for dismantling.
Watch out if using the locker, we popped to the cafe before leaving and it was before the 1pm close but they had locked up. Lucky I was able to find someone to open up.
I recommend hiring a bike from the Pineta di Ponente and cycling there - €5 for 3 hour bike hire with lock
4 stars just because they locked up early so I couldn’t get to the locker or visit the shop."
