"Three weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending The Lion Hunt tour at Doge’s Palace, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Our guide, Ilaria Niero, was exceptional in every way. The manner in which she presented the information was perfectly suited to our children's level of understanding (ages 7 & 4), and she kept them engaged and interested throughout the entire experience.
Although we arrived about 15 minutes late due to crowds and tired little legs (which had me feeling a bit anxious), Ilaria's response was nothing short of gracious. She remained calm and welcoming, allowing us the time to settle in, store our bags, use the restroom, and relax before we began—her warmth and patience immediately put us at ease.
Over the next 90 minutes, she held our full attention. Even when our children momentarily drifted off-topic, she gently and skillfully redirected them without any sign of frustration, demonstrating the mark of a true educator.
I too found myself learning in a way that I rarely experience on typical museum tours. Unlike the usual fast-paced, fact-heavy sessions, this tour gave us the opportunity to truly absorb and appreciate the history and details of what we were seeing.
It’s not often that you get to sit on the floor and complete puzzles of famous artworks.
Even in the days following the tour, our children continued to "hunt lions" around Venice, still deeply engaged by the experience.
