What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Casa di Carlo Goldoni for its historical significance and the intimate glimpse it offers into the life of the renowned playwright. The beautiful architecture of Ca' Centani is also a highlight. Some find the exhibits a bit sparse, but the overall experience is considered enriching for those interested in Venetian history and theater.
"While this museum may not impress everyone, if you already have a Venezia Unica City Pass or MUVE Museum Pass, stopping by for a visit is a no-brainer.
Inside the elegant palazzo, you'll find reconstructions from Goldoni's plays, featuring mannequins dressed in authentic 18th-century costumes and surrounded by original furniture and objects from the era. The section on puppet theatre is especially captivating, showcasing original marionettes and the only surviving puppet theatre, once common in the wealthy homes of the time.
While indeed all texts are in Italian, with tools like translation apps, understanding the content is a breeze."

"I don’t recommend visiting this place. Entrance fee is 5 euros per adult. There are only two rooms decorated in figurines and marionettes. There are no description signs all you get is tiny paper book available in English and you can get to reading. You will get here basic information about Goldonis life, and also summary about his work and plays."
Marie Nevludová
"Small museum (one room downstairs, three rooms upstairs), but many interesting items to see from the modern mask installation to the traditional dress, desks, and marionette theater with history of the puppets and puppet making. Worth the time if you are in the area. You can probably see the whole thing in 30-45 mins. We have Muve Friend cards so we have access to all museums and have been stopping in to any we pass by."
