"Reggia di Venaria Castle in Turin, a stunning example of Baroque architecture, captivates visitors with its grandeur and intricate design. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the castle offers a serene escape from the bustling city. Inside, the opulent rooms are adorned with exquisite frescoes and lavish furnishings that reflect the royal history of the Savoy dynasty. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it not only showcases Italy's rich cultural heritage but also serves as a venue for art exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year."

"Wonderful palace not very far from the city. The gardens are beautiful and really nice to walk around and take pictures. There is also an art exhibition that had some amazing pieces. The palace it self is quite big and has a lot of rooms that feel somewhat empty, I think they could utilize some more items and show them at their respective rooms. We also got the audio guide but we didn't really use it after all so I wouldn't recommend it that much. Overall really beautiful and worth visiting."

"I recommend. We visited just the gardens, it takes you about 4-5h, I recomand, but we visited in 2023 at 36 degrees Celsius, and it was torture, but in 2025 at 24 degrees, it was beautiful, the gardens are very big, we didn't manage to visit every garden, if you want a good walk, it's recomanded. Be careful, on Saturdays the last train(tour, 5€ adults) is at 12:30, and the next oan is at 3 pm. Also, I was absolutely eaten by mosquitoes, so I recommend spraying a anti-isect spray before going in the gardens. The ice cream shop in the rise garden was not open."

Exploring the Baroque Gardens
It's important to be prepared for the gardens, especially during warmer months. Many visitors have noted the presence of mosquitoes, so bringing insect repellent is highly recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are also a must, as you'll be covering a significant distance. While the gardens are vast, a small train is available for a fee, which can be helpful for those who want to cover more ground or have mobility concerns.
Seasonal changes bring different beauty to the gardens. Spring offers vibrant blooms, while autumn provides a stunning display of fall colors. Even in summer, the shade of the trees and the presence of water features can offer respite. The gardens are not just about aesthetics; they are an integral part of the Reggia's historical narrative, reflecting the grandeur and leisure pursuits of the Savoy court.
The Palace Interiors: A Glimpse into Royal Life
While the sheer scale and decorative elements are impressive, some reviews suggest that certain rooms might feel a bit sparse, lacking the original furniture or personal effects that would fully bring them to life. The estate is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the ongoing restoration efforts are commendable, but the presentation of the interiors is a point of discussion among visitors. Despite this, the architectural grandeur and the historical significance of the palace are undeniable.
Beyond the permanent collections, the Reggia often hosts temporary art exhibitions in various spaces, adding another layer of cultural experience to a visit. These exhibitions can range from historical art to contemporary installations, making each visit potentially unique. It's worth checking the official schedule to see what's on during your planned trip.
Getting to and from the Reggia
For those who prefer to drive, parking facilities are available at the Reggia. However, it's always a good idea to check the official website for the most current information on parking fees and availability, especially during peak tourist seasons. The journey by car offers flexibility but may involve navigating local traffic.
When planning your departure, be mindful of the last bus times, particularly on weekends. Some visitors have noted that the last train (referring to a tour or shuttle within the estate, or potentially the bus) can be early, so checking schedules in advance is crucial to avoid being stranded.
