What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Palazzo Geremia for its stunning Renaissance architecture and the historical significance of Emperor Maximilian I's proclamation. The beautiful facade frescoes are a major highlight, and many appreciate its role as a venue for cultural events and even weddings. It's described as a clean, well-maintained building with a quiet environment.
"Palazzo Geremia built between the 15th and 16th centuries. One of the first examples of Trentino Renaissance architecture. The anonymous painter who frescoed the façade demonstrates a figurative culture similar to that of Verona and Vicenza at the end of the 1400s. The bishop of Lodi lived here in the last phase of the council."
Dario Grillo
"On the palace is a depiction of Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg. For years, Maximilian had been waiting to be crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope. Unable to travel to Rome for the coronation, given the veto imposed by Venice, he went to Trento, a bishopric that Maximilian wanted outside Venetian influence. He arrived on February 3, 1508. The following morning, he went to the cathedral and had Bishop Matthaus Lang proclaim him Emperor of Rome.
A few days later, Pope Julius II approved the coronation.
It was the first imperial coronation not performed by the Pope."
Enzo Cestari
"A beautiful and prestigious Gothic-Renaissance palace in the city, it hosts numerous cultural events. Its beautiful facade features frescoes."
