"My favorite place to study."
Danielle Barros
"The villa was built in the 18th century by order of Giambattista Amoretti di Osasio, designed by a student of Juvarra, and is one of the most beautiful and representative noble architectures in the city.
The dating is uncertain, and is likely prior to the date of 1760 reported in some documents, as a cast iron plate, found in a fireplace on the first floor during the restoration of the 1970s, is engraved with "1735".
In the Topographical Map of the Hunt, datable to 1762, the Amoretti appears to be a building complex consisting of a farmhouse and a patrician villa surrounded by gardens, created on the land of a small pre-existing 17th-century farmhouse.
In 1807 the property passed to the Guasco family of Castelletto, and around 1820 to Paolo Luigi and Pietro Amedeo Rignon, and from the descriptions of the first half of the 19th century we learn that the park also housed a zoo with exotic animals.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Count Rignon redesigned the park, expanding the garden in front of the villa and giving it its current appearance, demolished the farmhouse to install the stables and a semicircular orangery, designed by the engineer Giovanni Chevalley, and moved the entrance to the side of the "Strada di Orbassano".
Damaged in the bombings of the Second World War, at the beginning of the 1970s it passed into the ownership of the City of Turin, which subjected it to a careful conservative restoration, at the end of which the current civic library was established in the villa."
