Reviews Summary

Visitors find Palazzo Foppoli to be a beautiful building that serves as an excellent venue for cultural events and exhibitions, often with free entry. Its historic architecture, including the courtyard and Fireplace Room, is frequently praised, though the experience is highly dependent on the current exhibition.

"A beautiful building for organizing cultural events"

marina olaru

"Palazzo Salis is definitely worth a visit. It's beautifully maintained, and the audio guide is informative. The only problem is that it's speakerphone, so other people in the same room often turn the volume up. Luckily, we went on a weekday, and it was quiet. It's definitely worth a visit, and the garden is also very beautiful, and the lady at the entrance is very kind."

Paola Buzzi

"PALAZZO FOPPOLI. An elegant 16th-century building, constructed by Ludovico Quadrio, a doctor of law and a native of Grosio. Typical features of the period include the portal and the internal courtyard with a perimeter corridor on stone corbels, as well as the ground-floor hall, known as the Fireplace Room.

In 1674, it became property of the Marchesi family. They in turn sold the property, along with two other houses, to the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Madonna di Tirano. The sanctuary's deputies leased it; an inn was opened on the ground floor in 1760 (the typical inverted L-shaped opening facing the river remains). Above the portal, the same deputies, to demonstrate their ownership, commissioned a painting depicting the scene of the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin. Unfortunately, the fresco is currently in precarious condition. In the spring of 1991, Morbegno restorer Marco Garoli conducted cleaning and color consolidation operations.

The palace later became the property of the Foppoli family, whose name it retains, and subsequently by will to Dr. Dino Bernardino Mazza.
Cosima Foppoli, known as Cosimina (1849-1913), appointed him as her heir, and the palace became the Provincial Office of Labor and Immigration.

Upon her death in 1962, her son Mario Camillo succeeded his father as President of the Legacy, and subsequently, on February 8, 1971, the palace was donated to the community of Tirano.

PALAZZO FOPPOLI [mid-16th century]. In 1703, it became the property of the Sanctuary Goods; later on, it passed to the Foppoli family, whose last heir donated it to the Municipality."
