Reviews Summary
Visitors find Castello della Monica a fantastic and suggestive place, a rediscovered gem of Teramo. They appreciate the free entry and the unique artistic vision of Gennaro della Monica, particularly his frescoes. However, some note that certain rooms are bare, and ongoing restoration work can limit access.
"Castello della Monica is a 20th Century (!) private residence of artist Gennaro della Monica who had planned to create a whole town in medieval style.
It's just opened its doors again after being closed for 40 years and then restored (the pandemic and a recent earthquake didnt help either)
You can wander through the building to see some of the frescoes of Teramo that the artist had lovingly painted himself... as well as infusing the building with his own personal image throughout."

"A place rediscovered by the City of Teramo only in recent years, after decades of abandonment. For those visiting the city, this castle, built in the neo-medieval village of Gennaro Della Monica (between the 19th and 20th centuries), is certainly a must-see.
Since early 2024, it has been closed for restoration work on the top two floors. We will have the opportunity to discover new frescoes, statues, and much more."
