Reviews Summary
Tanella Angori is a fascinating Etruscan ruin offering a glimpse into ancient history and breathtaking panoramic views. Visitors appreciate its off-the-beaten-path charm and the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding olive groves. While challenging to find and not always open, the rewarding experience makes the effort worthwhile for history buffs and nature lovers alike.
"It was discovered in 1949 following excavation work. Although similar in architecture to the Grotta di Pitagora, it was larger in size, with a diameter of approximately 11 meters. Very few remains of the monument remain. It is dated the same as the "Grotta di Pitagora" (Tanella di Pitagora, ed.).
The Tanella Angori, not far from the Tanella di Pitagora, was discovered in 1951 and also dates back to the Hellenistic period (2nd century BC).
Only the lower part of the crepidine (a cylindrical drum on a circular base) and a few blocks from the crowning band remain. The interior, in a Greek cross plan, preserves the paved floor of the chamber."
Alessandro Barcherini
"This Etruscan structure is circular in shape and is positioned on an exceptional panoramic point. Only the stone base remains of the original artifact, enough to arouse considerable interest among scholars and history enthusiasts. It is not always open."
Roberto Castellani
