What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Puez Plateau for its stunning, unique 'lunar landscape' and breathtaking panoramic views, especially from Rifugio Puez. The food at the huts is often described as excellent, with friendly service. However, some find the huts to be impersonal and expensive, with high prices for amenities.
"I have seen some negative reviews for this Refugio, but after our stop there today, I honestly can’t see why. We were there for lunch today, 8 September and had an excellent experience. Great, friendly and prompt service. The food was excellent, and my beer was cold and just perfect. In all honesty I would rate the place higher if I could."

"We stopped for lunch along our hike, before making our way down the mountain. We ordered a goulash soup, a dumpling soup and some sausage and potatoes. The soups were delicious, the sausage and potatoes were good but nothing too special for the price.
We were also entertained by goats grazing and bleating nearby. Washroom facilities were very clean as well. It was definitely a nice break for us to refuel before continuing on our hike."

"Whoever with low-to-moderate hiking fitness reaches the Puez Hut it will regard as a blessed end of first half of Puez-Odle Altopiano loop. So was me. After 4 hours hiking from Jimmy Hut, we had a short meal break (decent dumpling soup+ panini w. salami, fast and kind service) paid inside then left. Location is ideal for those hiking the #2 long trail and for the braves daring to go there..."

Remember that weather can change rapidly at this altitude, so always check forecasts and be prepared for varying conditions.
For those seeking a more challenging experience, routes involving via ferratas, like the one on Gran Cir, are available. Regardless of the chosen path, the Puez Plateau promises breathtaking views and an unforgettable alpine adventure. Many hikers find the experience rewarding, even with challenging sections.

Even in early September, you might encounter snowfields, adding to the dramatic visual contrast. The sheer scale and raw beauty of the Puez Plateau make it a photographer's dream and a must-see for anyone visiting the Dolomites.
