Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise San Giovanni dei Fiorentini for its stunning beauty and peaceful atmosphere, offering a welcome respite from Rome's busy streets. Many highlight the impressive architecture, the collection of religious art, and the unique opportunity to venerate the relic of Saint Mary Magdalene. While generally well-received, some note that finding the correct entrance can occasionally be a minor challenge.

"This an incredibly beautiful Basilica. As expected it is quiet, which makes it a fantastic escape from the chaos of Rome. There are so many statues and pieces of impressive architecture to see.

It is free to go into which is also great.

Please be aware that there are services and people frequently go in to pray, so guests are expected to be quiet and respectful whilst visiting. The people we met were very welcoming though."

"The Basilica di San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini is both majestic and intimate. Walking through its marble floor, I noticed the “Sepulchrum Marchionum de Grillis” a quiet reminder of noble Roman families resting here, blending history, art, and faith beautifully."

Carmelo Stanco

"This church has a lot of beautiful interior decorations and is really peaceful. It’s kind of tucked away in a less walked part of the city so it wasn’t super busy and it was really special to be able to venerate the relic of Saint Mary Magdalene that they have in the front left side of the church. Getting in was tricky though because all of the doors except one were unlocked (the wooden one of the right side). Definitely recommend swinging by though!"
