What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Fontana dei Cavalli Marini a beautiful and charming feature within the expansive Villa Borghese gardens. While some note it's less grand than other Roman fountains, its unique sea-horse sculptures and peaceful setting are highly appreciated, especially during quieter morning visits.
"The entire park is wonderful. Make sure to stop here at the fountain of the seahorses--it is beautiful.
We visited the park in the morning in November and had the fountain (and almost the whole park) to ourselves!
Since the Trevi Fountain is being cleaned we threw our penny here guaranteeing a return to Italy!"

"This is a peculiar fountain built in the late 18th-century. It features four sea horses surrounding the base. They have horse heads and front hooves along with fish bodies and intertwined tails, holding up a basin above their heads upon which is a smaller chalice shaped fountain spouting water. Water spills from the middle basin and water spouts from the sea horse hooves into a ground level basin.
Also known as the Sea-horse fountain, it is a playful fountain worth taking a few minutes to enjoy if you plan to explore the garden and park grounds around Borghese."
Brad
"The gardens of the Villa Borghese are awash (sorry, I couldn't resist!) with fountains.
My own favourite is the charming 18th century Fontana dei Cavalli Marini (Fountain of the Seahorses)."
