Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Ipogeo di Piazza Italia to be a historically interesting and beautifully preserved underground site, offering a glimpse into Reggio Calabria's ancient past. The passionate and knowledgeable volunteers are consistently praised for enhancing the experience with their insights. However, its small size and often limited, unpredictable opening hours are noted drawbacks, making it less of a destination and more of a quick, enriching stop.

"It’s an interesting place but very small - you can visit it in 3 minutes really (even if you decide to talk to the local guide - who is very nice and helpful by the way).
The „hallway” among the Greek/Roman ruins downstairs is maybe 5 metres long and to make it more interesting (?) some out of context random sculptures are placed there. If you happen to be there within the opening hours - go see it, it gives a nice impression of what is hidden beneath contemporary Reggio. Otherwise not worth waiting or special planning to go there really."

Maciej Koszyk

"It is a very beautiful historical place. It shows an underground Reggio Calabria. The person who tells the story is very kind and gentle and answers all questions attentively."

Maria Pineda

"Sorry this place is never open. I tried twice within working Hours and the door was just locked. Very sad as I wanted to see it."
