What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the National Museum of Ravenna for its rich collection of artifacts and historical context, noting it's often a peaceful, uncrowded experience. Many recommend visiting before the main mosaic sites to enhance understanding. While some find it less visually stunning than the mosaics, its value in illustrating Ravenna's diverse history is highly appreciated.
"This by far was one of the best meals we've had in Ravenna. In my opinion truly a locals restaurant, we didn't see any other tourists when there ( a great indicator of a what will be good food). We both had tagliatelle with red sauce, some vegetables, bread and wine. The pasta taste homemade and cooked perfectly with the sauce spiced just right. I can't rave enough how good this was. The bread nice and soft but dense.
I would eat here again, and highly recommend the restaurant if you're interested Ravenna."

"A truly wonderful museum full of many interesting and beautiful artefact’s. We spent nearly two hours wondering around without seeing another visitor. If you are planning to spend some time visiting the major Byzantine sites then I would recommend spend a little time here before you see the sites. The cities history is illustrated brilliantly though the artefact’s and written explanations. A great museum"

"A wide ranging collection of many beautiful and rare items. A room containing incredibly intricate pieces all carved from ivory was beautiful and at the same time distressing imagining how many elephants died for these to be created."
