"When you approach this place looks more like a medieval village then a monastary. Here used to be a roman fort, when it became a pilgrimage destination it is unknown, but first documents tell us about it, are from 8th century. So it was one of first in This larger area.
This holy place is important for slovenians, because one of the oldest written documents in our language was found here.
Check when the church is open, because we were lucky."

"I used to ride my bike from my cousins house in Firmano to the top. The ride is amazing!! So peaceful very little traffic on weekends but the weekends can get crowded. (Unless you go really early)
Enjoy the climb up and take a lunch with you or stop at the restaurant at the top.
From Firmano it was 8 miles and about 1,600 feet of climbing, but the return is all downhill.
Did I mention the absolute beautiful views 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍"
