"Perhaps the only place in Prato worth a visit. I was here on March 8, 2025, and the museum is truly beautiful and well-maintained. When I visited, I was the only one there, and I had the entire museum to myself. Next to many of the works, there was a QR code that, when scanned, opened a very interesting audio description. The museum appears to have been recently renovated, as it has new, modern equipment. The only things I didn't appreciate were that the panoramic terrace and the façade were under restoration, so I wasn't allowed to enjoy the view from there, and the exorbitant price of the ticket. It's absurd to charge such a high price for a museum. It's a shame, though, if you're in Prato, you must visit. For me, it was worth it, and I was pleasantly surprised."

"We were informed that we absolutely had to use the backpack locker to visit the museum AFTER purchasing the tickets (small backpacks, certainly not school bags).
We offered to keep them in the front so as not to risk damaging the works (we're certainly not children and know how to manage an art exhibition visit), but we were rudely refused, insisting that we use the lockers.
Fortunately for us, too, the card refused the transaction to complete the ticket purchase, an opportunity that the staff seized upon to be even more rude and impolite.

I note now that the official website and Facebook page don't require backpacks as a "visit rule," because had we known this in advance, we would have prepared differently (and if we had been informed beforehand, we would have considered it accordingly).

I don't think this was professional or honest behavior.

If you're considering a visit, I recommend keeping in mind that the lockers they offer for storing personal belongings aren't checked.

Also note that I've been there before and had a backpack, and on that occasion I wasn't even asked to carry it in front.
Is this a rule applied depending on who's selling the tickets and/or how they feel?

Very, very unfair.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were ordered to leave our backpack in their (probably unsupervised) cabinet only after purchasing the tickets. We had pretty small bags, too.
Anyway, we offered to just hold our backpacks in front of us (as is sufficient in other museums), but our request was rudely refused.
We've been lucky our credit card refused the transaction a few seconds later, an event used by the museum staff to become even more rude.

Such rules are not specified on their museum website and Facebook page, so we had no way of knowing that beforehand.
Regardless, that was absolutely unprofessional.

If you are considering to visit the place I recommend you to take into consideration these unwritten rules.
On a final note, I distinctly remember visiting the musuem before without any similar rule being enforced."
